About the role

We have three full-time positions in the Works team, based from our workshop located at Council’s Moruya Depot. All three roles will primarily be responsible for maintaining and re-conditioning water and sewerage pumps and ancillary equipment, with one of the positions holding a stronger focus in Welding.

Your main duties will include:

  • Performing a range of tasks utilising skills held in fitting/machining, fabrication and welding, and sheet-metal construction.
  • Planning and organising work to meet quality and environmental standards.
  • Manufacturing/repairing mechanical components and equipment to required standards and deadlines.
  • Maintaining records of work performed on required systems and utilise online monitoring systems to ensure compliance, and safe and efficient performance of Council’s assets.
  • Driving and operating Council vehicles, plant and equipment.

Total remuneration for the role is in the range of $3,292.54 to $3,590.00 gross per fortnight comprising:

  • $2,915.11 to $3,181.89 base salary
  • $37.84 Adverse Working Conditions Allowance
  • $339.59 to $370.27 superannuation (at 11.5%)

About you

Are you keen for a change, or to put a new qualification to good use? The successful applicants will possess a Trade Certificate, experience in welding, fabrication, and sheet-metal and ability to work well in a small team. Your interest in the field, strong communication and self-motivated approach will be a standout and contribute to your overall success and job satisfaction. Your application will further demonstrate:

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of water and/or sewer pumps and associated ancillary equipment.
  • Experience working on fixed and mobile plant, light vehicles, heavy vehicles, and earthmoving equipment.
  • Fitness and ability to work at heights and in underground/confined spaces.
  • Experience in the use of vehicle mounted cranes and overhead travelling gantries.
  • Ability to utilise technology and software programs.
