Love working outdoors and wanting to begin your career in local government?  A rewarding career development opportunity exists for a school leaver looking to enter the Horticulture industry.  Working within the Shire’s fun and friendly Parks and Gardens team, the successful applicant will focus on assisting in the maintenance of parks, gardens and reserves.

Amenity Gardener Trainee (HR 10/25)

• Fixed Term 12 months from Jan 2025
• Full-Time 76 hours/fortnight
• EA Level 1 (17/18 years of age) $43,241 - $46,934 per annum
• Plus superannuation, professional development, generous leave provisions and recreation centre membership

Position description and selection criteria

Amenity Gardener Trainee Position Description

The successful applicant will be:

• Enthusiastic and demonstrate an interest in Horticulture
• Progressing towards successful completion of Year 12
• Living within the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River

As a trainee, you will receive:

• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kit
• Quality training and mentoring in operating machinery, nursery skills and general horticulture skills, with the opportunity to obtain a certificate III in Horticulture
• A safe working environment with ongoing career support and guidance
• The opportunity to learn from a highly skilled, experienced and passionate team
• Benefit from the Shire’s enterprise bargaining agreement through receiving four weeks paid leave, a flexible working roster & Recreation Centre membership
