Position Overview

As an Apprentice Mechanic, you’ll be under the expert guidance of our Head Mechanic, assisting with the servicing, maintaining, and repairing of Council vehicles, heavy plant, and equipment. You’ll be hands-on, working in the workshop and out on-site, while also gaining valuable training to help you become a fully qualified mechanic.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist in the servicing and maintenance of Council’s fleet, including vehicles, heavy plant, and equipment.
  • Contribute to the security of the workshop and surrounding areas.
  • Participate in training, completing modules on time and to the required standard.
  • Engage in risk assessments to ensure safety in the workplace.
  • Maintain a professional workshop presentation and personal appearance.
  • Use and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as per safety guidelines.
  • Take part in toolbox meetings to discuss safety and operations.
  • Complete required administrative tasks, such as timesheets and job documentation.
  • Take on any additional tasks within your skills, competencies, and role classification as directed by the Plant and Workshop Manager.
