The Role
The Asset Planner (Stormwater) in this role will support the Capital Works Program through the Project Management Framework (PMF) for stormwater related projects.
*The opportunity is on a Permanent Full Time basis.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Assist the Team Leader to develop and deliver the Capital Works Program
- Contribute to the development and implementation of Council's Delivery Program, Operational Plan and the Unit Plan
- Assist in the procurement process for projects, including participating in assessment panel and as subject matter expert
- Review and approve draft and preliminary construction drawings provided by the Asset Design Unit ensuring the scope and budgets are met and compliance with relevant standards.
- Prepare and maintain relevant policies, guidelines and standard drawings for related asset categories and provide expert advice to the community, staff and Council.
- Prepare grant applications and ensure compliance with reporting obligations to external authorities
- Investigate and provide advice regarding acquisition and disposal of Council assets as required
- Investigate and respond to customer requests as allocated and where applicable make recommendations to include in the Capital Works Program or request maintenance works as necessary

You will have:
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline (Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science or equivalent experience)
- Current Class C Drivers licence
- Experience in the use of DRAINS, MUSIC, or similar modelling tools
- Experience in design and management of general stormwater assets including drainage network, water quality improvement devices, Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD), investigation, planning, project prioritisation and stakeholder engagement
- Understanding of asset management principles
- Project management skills
- Experience in using Microsoft Office and GIS applications
- Knowledge of relevant Acts, Regulations, Legislation, Guidelines and codes
Desirable Skills:
- Demonstrated understanding of floodplain management and a working knowledge of the NSW Floodplain Development Manual
- Experience in the preparation of project briefs, review of budgets, construction plans, specifications and contracts
- Experience in Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD)
The salary range for this opportunity commences at $101,422 (Grade H, Step 1) + 11.5% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
