What you’ll do:

You’ll administer Council's Asset Protection Program and supervise Service Authorities and private development works to ensure compliance with Council standards and specification to protect Council’s assets. Other key responsibilities include:

  • Inspecting Council assets before and after building works to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Administer and issue Works Within Road Reserve Consents (Consent for Works) under the Road Management Act
  • Monitor and supervise civil works, drainage installations, and new developments to ensure adherence to Council’s standards
  • Take appropriate enforcement action, issuing notices and infringement notices for non-compliance.
  • Coordinate Council’s traffic signal program and maintenance contracts
  • Investigate and respond to asset damage complaints promptly, ensuring community concerns are addressed

What you'll bring - skills, experience and certificates:

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent relevant Asset Protection experience.
  • Experience in supervision or project management of contract works.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and confidently, both verbally and in writing to consult and negotiate successful outcomes with contractors, service authorities, residents and other staff.
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills including previous experience in working as part of a team, on a daily basis.
  • Local Government experience is desirable

Mandatory Pre-employment checks:

  • Current Drivers licence
  • Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) Previously known as a police check
  • White Card
