We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Design and Survey Services team as a Cadet Designer.

What You’ll Do:

As a Cadet Designer, you will have the opportunity to contribute to exciting projects, and gain hands-on experience in civil design, all while working towards completing your degree.

You will undertake training in the use of civil design software (CAD, 12D, GIS Mapping), while working closely with our Engineering team to support the planning, development, and delivery of multi-disciplinary civil designs that help shape the future of the Cairns region.

Whether you are a recent year 12 school graduate with an interest in Engineering, or already studying this qualification, this is an incredible opportunity to receive professional training, learn from experienced Engineers and Civil Designers, and contribute to the design and development of key infrastructure projects that positively impact our community.

What We’re Looking for:

• Completed Year 12 and/or Certificate III in Engineering and qualified entry for acceptance into the course Associate
Degree in Engineering (Civil Engineering) or equivalent.
• Technical ability to develop skills in a civil engineering environment.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
• Demonstrated ability to gain an understanding and develop competency of estimating processes, specifications and
industry codes applied to civil infrastructure construction.
• Demonstrated ability to gain an understanding and develop competency of Council's current engineering software
packages being 12D and AutoCAD.
