ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Libraries team operate eight (8) locations across the Cumberland LGA and assist customers and members of the public with locating materials, answering questions and providing guidance on research strategies.

The team also hold a wide variety of events across these locations, ranging from educational and cultural programs to social and community-building activities.

This position assists in the planning and delivery of relevant and responsive services, programs and events for children and young people over all Cumberland Library locations. Where required, the position holder may need to assist in the provision of programs outside the stated hours of the position. Assisting with the promotion of Children’s and Young Adults’ programs, literature and educational resources.

Performing administration tasks for the Children and Young Adults team including assisting with the provision of statistics and program evaluations and the maintenance of materials and resources affiliated with the Children’s and Young Adults’ services area.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Higher School Certificate or equivalent experience in a similar role
  • High Level of interpersonal and customer service skills and experience
  • Well developed literacy, numeracy and oral communication skills
  • Well developed computer and keyboard skills
  • Experience and interest in presenting programs and activities for children and young people including lapsit programs and storytelling
  • Valid Working With Children Check Number.

About this role: 

  • Permanent full-time position
  • Working 70 hour fortnight, working on a roster between Monday to Saturday.
  • Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Rostered Day Off (RDO) arrangement
  • Located at Council's Merrylands Library however you may be required to work across any of Council’s library locations

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 5 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,121.69 to $1,289.95 per week  plus 11.5% superannuation
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
