The Whitsunday Regional Council is situated at the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. We are seeking a dedicated Civic Pride Coordinator to enhance the visual amenity of the Whitsunday Region. In this pivotal role, you will focus on improving the appearance and functionality of our Parks and Open Spaces and enhance park aesthetics.

The Role
Reporting to the Parks and Gardens Manager, your responsibilities will include assisting with the design and construction projects of Parks and Open spaces, engaging with the community, and collaborating with various
stakeholders to implement Master Plans that achieve the desired ‘look and feel’ of our public spaces.
Other key responsibilities include:
• Managing projects from concept to completion
• Collaborating with stakeholders and resolving complex issues
• Conducting inspections and maintaining accurate asset registers
• Leading and managing operational teams
Essential
1. Must possess and maintain a current Queensland “C” Class motor vehicle driver’s licence.
2. A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in a field such as landscape architecture, urban planning, environmental management, or a related discipline.
3. Demonstrated experience in asset management, park maintenance, and project management within a local government or similar setting.
4. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with community members, internal and external stakeholders.
5. Knowledge of park design principles, landscaping techniques, and environmental conservation practices.
6. Proficiency in using asset management software, GIS tools, and other relevant technology for planning and monitoring park assets.
7. A commitment to continuous improvement and a proactive approach to enhancing the visual appeal and functionality of public spaces.
Desirable
1. Certificate IV in Building and Construction
2. Traffic Management – Design
3. Playground inspection qualification level 3
