The Opportunity
The position of Civil Construction Labourer supports Council’s Infrastructure Operations Works team by undertaking a variety of labouring and manual handling tasks in a safe, efficient, and reliable manner. The role involves physically demanding work across both construction and maintenance projects, delivered to recognised industry standards.
Working as part of a team, the Civil Construction Labourer contributes to a positive and productive work environment and plays an active role in delivering quality infrastructure outcomes for the Hinchinbrook community. The position also supports the development and implementation of Service Delivery Standards, ensuring consistent, high-quality, and customer-focused service across operational activities.
Key Responsibilities
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, is reliable, safety-focused, and is either experienced in road maintenance or civil construction, or has transferrable skills and is keen to build a career in the industry. You hold a current C Class Driver’s Licence and Construction White Card and are physically fit and capable of carrying out manual labour in varying conditions.
You’re a team player who communicates well, follows instructions, and contributes to a positive work environment.

Mandatory
General Salary Information
This position is classified as Level 2 C under the Hinchinbrook Shire Council Local Government Officers (Stream B) Certified Agreement.
The salary is $60,918 per annum plus superannuation. $30.8289 per hour.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
The position will require the employee to carry out physical tasks which may include manual handling, repetitive bending, kneeling, twisting and/or squatting, lifting, working in confined spaces, and working at heights.
