THE POSITION
This position will clean offices, public amenities and other buildings / facilities, in accordance with the roster set by the position’s supervisor to ensure that these facilities are clean and free of rubbish.
Reporting to Manager of Recreation and Open Spaces, you will:
Carry out all cleaning duties as required for each specific work site and/or event that may occur from time to time, including but not limited to vacuuming, sweeping, removal of rubbish, mopping, hosing, disinfecting.
Replenish consumables in toilets, kitchen areas and storerooms, as required to ensure that these items are well stocked.
Sweep and removes rubbish from adjacent external areas to maintain a clean and tidy state, including paths, walkways, gardens, verandahs and entrance areas including the removal of cobwebs and management of graffiti.
Perform minor maintenance work and reports major damage and / or defects to buildings, fixtures and furniture to the supervisor or relevant site manager.
Ensure building security is maintained during and following cleaning activities, including closing and securing all external windows and doors, and activating building alarms where they are fitted.
Store, mix and apply cleaners and other chemical products in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS), manufacturers' instructions and / or other relevant safety procedures.
Participate in training and staff meetings as required.
Train and coach new or relief staff and also relieve in cleaning roles at other Council sites when required.
Assist customers with simple enquiries outside opening hours.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Specifically, you will have:
Current driver’s licence
Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends
Ability to read, interpret and apply written instructions
Ability to calculate amounts involving ratios, proportions, area and volume
Previous experience in commercial/industrial cleaning work
