Our Marketing and Communications team is fast-paced, energetic and delivers proactive communication strategies for a vibrant regional local government.

As our Communications and Media Officer, you will be a key part of our team in driving community engagement and public relations across the city, supporting our Elected Members and Executive Leadership team, and assisting with promoting the City’s services, programs, and activities.

In this role, you will find that no two days are ever the same, and you'll have the opportunity to work with departments across the organisation. Through compelling cross-platform storytelling, you will prepare media releases and responses, speeches, talking points, presentations, and promotional materials, ensuring accurate and timely dissemination of information. You will also prepare content updates for both web and organisational publications, with a focus on aligning all content with the City’s corporate branding guidelines and Marketing and Communications Strategy.

You will be required to provide strategic communications advice and support, help build engagement across a range of communications platforms, and foster strong relationships with stakeholders, media, and internal teams to support the City’s public relations efforts.

About you

To be considered for this position, you will need:

• Relevant studies in communications, public relations, or marketing or equivalent work experience (2 years minimum)

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the demonstrated ability to develop and implement a variety of promotional activities across multiple online and traditional channels.

• Experience in developing and implementing effective and engaging public relations content across different platforms.

• Knowledge and experience in community engagement best practice.

• Outstanding interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with internal and external customers at all levels, including media and suppliers.

• High attention to detail with demonstrated editing and proofreading skills.

• High level of computer literacy, including experience in using marketing analytics tools, social media monitoring. Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite is desirable.

• Current satisfactory National Police Clearance.

• Current WA "C" Class driver's license.
