About the Role

Barkly Regional Council is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Finance Officer (AP) to join our dedicated Finance team. This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of accounts payable functions, playing a critical part in maintaining the Council’s financial integrity and compliance.

Working in a small, supportive team, you will manage creditor accounts, liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders, and ensure that Council’s financial obligations are met in a timely and compliant manner. The Finance Department oversees a wide range of services including rates and property management, accounts receivable and payable, investment oversight, payroll, budgeting, and the preparation of annual financial statements.

THE ESSENTIALS

  • Post-secondary qualifications in accounting or related discipline, or a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in accounting and financial management or a similar field.
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills, including the ability to work with minimal supervision, perform tasks under pressure and to meet deadlines, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent numeracy, analytical and problem-solving skills in a financial management context
  • Demonstrated experience in using Microsoft Office Suite applications, particularly Microsoft Excel, to prepare financial reports, correspondence and presentations.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of financial management and accounting software.

The Finer Details

  • Full-Time Permanent position paying Level 8 of the Barkly Regional Council Enterprise Agreement 2023.
  • Annual Salary of $87,014.91 per annum ($3,346.73 gross per fortnight).
  • Tennant Creek Zone Allowance of $1.89 per ordinary hour.
  • 11.5% Superannuation.
  • Annual Leave of 6 weeks paid with 17.5% Leave Loading.

  • Housing subsidy of up to $330.00 gross per week may be available to the right applicant.

Barkly Regional Council requires that all applicants have a National Criminal History Check. You will be required to provide a recent National Criminal History Check prior to any offer of employment.
