Senior Officer Community Development - permanent, full time

Remuneration: Annual salary commencing at $93,611, plus superannuation

Role Overview

 The Senior Officer Community Development has a primary focus to increase community participation and social well-being within the Gympie region by:

  • identifying, delivering and supporting a range of community development initiatives;
  • developing and maintaining strong community partnerships;
  • undertaking community engagement planning and activity;
  • developing relevant strategies and policies.

To be successful in this position, applicants should have:

  • Qualifications (Post Graduate Degree, Degree, Diploma, Certificate) or equivalent experience/active enrolment in Social Science, Government Administration, Community Services, Community Development, Community Engagement, Project Management or similar.
  • Sound understanding of, and demonstrated experience in applying, community development and community engagement principles.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with a resilient and solutions-focused approach to customer facing interactions.
  • Demonstrated group or meeting facilitation skills, including conflict management.
  • Sound research skills and demonstrated experience in the development of policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective internal and external relationships and networks.
  • Strategic thinking and planning skills.
  • Initiator, who also has a strong ability to work with colleagues to achieve team and corporate outcomes.

Officer Community Development - fixed term (to December 2025), full time

Remuneration: Annual salary commencing at $86,250 (pro rata), plus superannuation

Role Overview

The primary focus of the Officer Community Development is to develop, deliver and support a range of community development and engagement initiatives to increase community capacity, participation and social wellbeing within the Gympie region.

 

To be successful in this position, applicants should have:

  • Qualifications (Post Graduate Degree, Degree, Diploma, Certificate) or equivalent experience/active enrolment in Community Development, Project Management, Community Services, Social Sciences or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience in community development and engagement, in particular working with community-based organisations.
  • Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with a resilient and solutions focused approach to customer-facing interactions.
  • Demonstrated group or meeting facilitation skills, including conflict management.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective internal and external partnerships.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing demands and successfully prioritise multiple projects and tasks.
