Primary Objectives:
- Lead the Branch to build an internal organisational culture, including levels of awareness and understanding, to advance Council’s position on significant social matters.
- Lead the Branch in designing and implementing community development programs intended to increase levels of wellbeing and inclusion.
- Provide high level specialist advice, direction, and coordination on key social matters.
- Research and develop evidence-based social policy and programs and coordinate and secure endorsement for Council’s position in relation to social and community inclusion.
- Effectively develop and coordinate Council and Local Government’s human and social readiness and recovery disaster management arrangements
- Effectively develop and lead the Community Development Team to ensure implementation of strategies and programs to deliver on Council’s position and respond to current and future community needs – across both mainstream and specialist/vulnerable cohorts.
- Provide leadership and support to Community Partnerships and Green Space Our Place teams in delivering highly recognised Council managed community programs with the aim of enhancing profile and participation.

- Experience in human and social readiness and recovery disaster management arrangements.
- Experience in building effective engagement processes, networks, and partnerships to advance social inclusion initiatives.
- A genuine passion for community development and a commitment to enhancing the wellbeing and inclusion of diverse community members.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and persuasively.
- A team player who enjoys leading and developing teams and thrives in a collaborative environment and can build strong relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and community members.
- Ability to remain resilient and adaptable in a dynamic and sometimes challenging environment.
