The role

Key responsibilities undertaken by the Coordinator Public and Environmental Health include:

  • enhancing the health and lifestyle opportunities within our community through the coordination and delivery of delegated responsibilities under relevant legislation, acts, codes of practice and local law
  • Develop policies and procedures relevant to Public and Environmental Health and assist in the development of Council and other plans and strategies relevant to Public and Environmental Health, including the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan
  • Undertake a cross departmental collaborative approach in order to meet statutory requirements, and develop effective and efficient work practices
  • Provide assistance and guidance to Public and Environmental Health Officers in the assessment and processing of decision making related to permit applications and administrations of delegated duties

Our ideal candidate

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Qualifications necessary for appointment as an Environmental Health Officer as gazetted by the Chief Health Officer under section 29(3) of the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008
  • Extensive experience in a local government setting as an Environmental Health Officer
  • the ability to lead a team
  • the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
