What’s the role all about
The Lead Family Worker program is a brief and early intervention program for families with the aim to enhance the wellbeing of caregivers and children to reduce social isolation, challenges accessing services and increase safety.
Applying a family violence lens the Lead Family Worker proactively builds close relationships with families experiencing vulnerability and community service organisations, empowering families to access services which support safety and wellbeing.
We are looking for someone with a strengths-based and trauma-informed practice framework, who thrives in a collaborative team environment. This program requires an innovative approach to quality service development and commitment to continuous improvement.
1 x Permanent part time role - 3 days per week
What you might do
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that children and families can access and maintain engagement with services
• Promote safety of children and families experience violence through domestic and family violence interventions
• Facilitate appropriate referral pathways and funding opportunities available to families.
• Understand the barriers and enablers experienced by families in accessing early years services
• Communicate and advocate for the evolving needs of children and families experiencing vulnerability accessing children and family services, in line with Council’s Children’s Services Policy.
• Contribute to the Family Support continuous improvement model and evaluation process, including reporting, effective communications, and advocacy opportunities to inform changes to the FYC department strategies and actions that target engagement of families in early years services.
Who we are looking for
• Must hold a degree in Social Work or other qualification suitable for practice in the Child and Families sector
• Significant experience or knowledge of Perinatal Mental Health, Parenting support and Domestic and Family Violence sector
• Demonstrated experience utilising best practice models in relation to children and families in the context of vulnerability and trauma
• Able to establish and maintain co-operative working relationships with a variety of agencies and working collaboratively with professionals and external agencies
