About the role

This Crew Leader Horticulturist, Parks and Gardens position is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, improvement and construction of Central Coast Council’s roadside landscapes through the application of sound horticultural practices, the effective allocation of staff and resources and the utilisation of best productive methods to provide a cost effective service to the Community.

Key activities of this role include: 

  • Oversee and assist in the delivery of day to day park maintenance, grass control and landscape improvements within CCC’s parks and reserves
  • Lead and manage the development and improvement of WHS and risk management initiatives and practices for the team, including assurance that all works are carried out in accordance with regulations, policies and procedures (including CCC policies and procedures, WHS requirements and Constructions Acts including traffic control) and also regarding the use, care and security of equipment
  • Complete all administrative functions associated with the position, including but not limited to material dockets, timesheets, diary entries etc. in a timely and accurate manner.

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Certificate III qualification in Horticulture/Parks and Gardens or related field
  • WHS Construction Induction Certificate (White Card)
  • Current Class C Driver’s Licence
  • Desirable: Medium Rigid Drivers Licence (MR)
  • Demonstrated experience in the Horticulture/Parks Maintenance industry in a supervisory role
  • Demonstrated experience with the use of Horticulture/Parks Maintenance equipment
  • Extensive experience in general gardening duties

Other important information

  • The salary range for this position sits between $63.6k - $73.8k plus 11.5% superannuation
  • This is a Permanent full time role 
  • This role will be able to access a 9 day fortnight.
  • This role is located at the Erina Depot.
  • Successful candidates will be required to have vaccinations against Tetanus.
