Our Customer Service Officers are the voice over the phone, the friendly faces that welcome you to Spence Street, the first point of contact who respond to enquiries and concerns of our residents from Mirriwinni in the south to Ellis Beach in the north.

This role demands proactive problem-solving skills, be an effective communicator and have a dedication to delivering excellence in every aspect of call centre and customer service.  Join us in our commitment to providing unparalleled service and support to our valued customers.

Primary objectives are to:

• To effectively meet the needs of internal customers at all times in a professional, courteous and friendly manner.
• To participate and contribute to the Customer Service Team to deliver a high level of services to the residents and ratepayers of the Cairns Regional Council.
• To actively participate and contribute to the creation, maintenance and accuracy of the Customer information resources.

To be successful in this role you must have:

• Exceptional call centre and customer service experience.
• Clear and concise communication skills and the ability to communicate with both Council officers and the general public.
• The ability to use technology suitable to a Customer Service Centre environment and navigate multiple webpages whilst a customer is on the phone.
• Knowledge of or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of Council policies, procedures and workflows.
• Ability to deal with difficult customers over the phone
