We have 7 community libraries across our local government area, including Mount Druitt, Stanhope Gardens, Riverstone, Lalor Park and our flagship service, The Max Webber Library, 1 temporary and a mobile library service at Marsden Park.

About the opportunity

We are looking for a Digital Programs Services Librarian - Community Learning, who thrives in a dynamic environment to support and build our organisation, to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis.

This opportunity is based within the Library's Community Learning team, and you will work closely with library information specialists to lead and participate in projects to improve our web presence. An ideal candidate will develop online programs and engage with the community to ensure we are responsive to their needs. 

This role focuses on the provision of quality reference and information services, together with promoting innovation by exploring new digital platforms and web presence services. 

Qualifications and experience

Essential: 

• Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent as recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) or a degree in a related field. Eligible for membership of ALIA
• Suitable experience in developing and delivering library programs including multimedia content and emerging technologies relevant to public library service delivery
• Demonstrated strong commitment to a customer focused service
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative and proven problem solving and communication skills, both oral and written
• Proficient user of online resources including databases
• Proficient user of existing and new technologies
• Suitable skill and experience in web analytics (e.g. Google analytics) and feeding results into future system iterations and information architecture
• Class C Drivers licence
• Availability to work flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends as rostered
• Working with Children Check (WWCC).

Desirable:

• Experience with stakeholder liaison
• Experience in budget and/or cash management
• Experience in systems integration techniques (e.g. API, web services)
• First aid certification
• Ability to speak a community language.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

• Entry level for this position starts at $1,506.24 per week
• 35-hour working week
• Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
• Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
