Specialised teams handle everything from arboriculture and turf management to pest control and security, while also responding to emergencies and maintaining contracts for features like reserve maintenance and cemetery services. Field Services plays a crucial role in supporting a vibrant and sustainable community.
About the Role:
As a Drainage Maintenance Team Member, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the community's civil infrastructure – with a strong focus on drainage systems. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You’ll be part of a hardworking and supportive Civil Maintenance team responsible for delivering safe, efficient and high-quality maintenance services across Council’s drainage and civil assets. The work is varied and may include road, verge, and footpath maintenance, earthworks, and operating machinery such as skid steers, backhoes, and excavators. You’ll be relied on to follow direction, work collaboratively, keep accurate records, and always operate plant and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out general drainage and civil maintenance works to required safety and service standards.
- Operate a range of civil plant including Skid Steer, Backhoe, Excavator, Flocon and Roller.
- Drive medium trucks, utes and other vehicles as required for maintenance tasks.
- Set up temporary signage in line with Work Zone Traffic Management standards.
- Maintain plant, tools and equipment in a safe and clean condition.
- Work effectively as part of a team to complete tasks efficiently and safely.
- Raise and report defects in civil infrastructure during daily operations.
- Use hand tools and appropriate safety gear when working with machinery or materials.
- Accurately record daily work tasks, materials used, and timekeeping data.
- Liaise with contractors to support the completion of maintenance works when needed.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Current MR or HR Driver’s Licence (essential)
- Certificate III in Civil Construction or equivalent
- Work Zone Traffic Management Certificate
- Proven experience and competency in operating a variety of civil plant and machinery
- Sound knowledge of road and drainage maintenance practices
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Strong focus on safety, quality, and customer service
