We are seeking a Diploma qualified, Early Childhood Educator to ensure the provision of a high-quality, innovative educational program that meets the individual needs of children aged from birth to 6 years.

About the Role:

As an Early Childhood Educator, you will provide a high-quality, innovative educational program that meets the individual needs of children aged from birth to six years. This role will also ensure the care and education program aligns with the Early Childhood Services Philosophy. You are required to ensure a child-safe environment and contribute to a culture of child safety by fulfilling the responsibilities and requirements of Council’s Child Safe Policy and procedures.

The successful candidate will be required to work according to the weekly rotating roster, with shifts starting from 6:45 a.m. through to 6:15 p.m. over a 4-week rotation. Shifts are rostered for 8 hours a day, with a one-hour unpaid lunch break and monthly RDOs.

Skills, experience and certificates:

Required Certificates:

  • Early Childhood Qualification as recognised under Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011 – Diploma.
  • Current, recognised First Aid and Anaphylaxis and Asthma Certificates.
  • Level 2 First Aid, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis certificate, with updates completed in the last 12 months.

Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of the National Quality Framework, Education and Care Services National Law Act (2010), Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011) and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Mandatory Reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child development theories.
  • Ability to maintain records and write reports relating to program goals and child development.
  • Awareness of the diverse cultural needs of families.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and a positive approach to shared decision-making.
  • Understanding and commitment to Banyule City Council’s Values.
