About the Opportunity

Operating from within the Economic Development Department, you will be required to provide the administrative support function for the programs, activities and operations undertaken by the Economic Development Team.  This includes providing support to Strategic Planning, Economic Development and Tourism staff.

This position can be located in any of our major regional centres (Dalby, Chinchilla, Miles or Tara).

You will:

  • Providing professional advice to internal and external customers based on specialised knowledge and skills. E.g. procurement process and Council processes
  • Establishing and maintaining productive working relationships within internal and external stakeholders
  • Assisting in the planning, administration, implementation and evaluation of Western Downs Major Events, Tourism and Economic Development
  • Tourism and Visitor Information Centre Support (Dalby & Chinchilla)
  • Providing efficient administration and business support services to Economic Development Team (including Tourism and Major Events)

This role is full time, working 36.25 hours per week with a fortnightly RDO.

This role has the option of a compressed working roster.

About yourself

A person in this position will need to hold a relevant Diploma of Business Administration or similar in a related field, OR be able to demonstrate equivalent related experience. It is also highly desirable for the successful candidate to have:

  • Evidence of high level of organisational skills to deliver outstanding outcomes within a multi-disciplined role and an ability to work independently
  • Ability to work outside normal office hours as well as onsite at events
  • Ability to work autonomously in a dynamic environment and step-up to greater responsibility when required
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills.

Mandatory Vaccinations (or a valid and verifiable contraindication) are to be evidenced when requested by Council.
