The Role

An exciting opportunity to manage the City of Ballarat Events team over a 12 month contract to generate community engagement and economic benefits for Ballarat through the attraction, development and delivery of a diverse range of events.  

Lead the Events Unit to provide strategic support and guidance for the ongoing growth and development of Ballarat events sector to ensure sound social, financial, and creative outcomes.  

About You

We are looking for someone who can capably manage a busy and diverse workload, set and achieve multiple priorities, and deliver on a demanding vision. This role requires someone with exceptional people and project management skills and the ability to meet objectives within time constraints and conflicting demands.  

Key Selection Criteria

  • Extensive managerial experience in event management and/or the arts and culture sector. 
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, analytically, and conceptually to manage complex issues. 
  • Experience with the effective management of staff, including recruitment, staff development and performance management. 
  • Experience in the development and implementation of major strategy and business planning
  • Strong financial management skills including budget development and control. 
  • Tertiary qualifications with extensive experience in the arts and cultural sector, business, event management, tourism or related fields. 
  • Proven ability to build and manage relationships at a senior level to negotiate and influence outcomes, to advocate for the Arts and the Events communities, and to deal with a widely diverse constituency
