Job Description

Your new career
The Facilities Management Team are responsible for the maintenance operations of Councils owned and managed facilities. This role will oversee the reactive maintenance component including the coordination of contractors and suppliers. 

 

What you will bring to the role
We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated person who is driven to making a positive impact on the lives of our local community members and their families. 

To be successful in this role you will have: 

  • Technical knowledge and experience with building and facilities related trades, essential safety measures and works programming.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities, plan and manage time effectively to achieve objectives within agreed time frames.
  • Oversee contractors engaged in specific facility maintenance works.

 

Key selection criteria
Mandatory qualifications, experience and requirements

  • Formal qualifications within the building industry and/or building maintenance management or 5 years relevant experience.
  • Experience and technical knowledge in building renewal, maintenance processes. 
  • Demonstrated experience in engagement, supervision and cost control of trade contractors in a wide range of building maintenance and construction activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in use of computer software such as the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • Understanding of relevant building legislation with particular regard to Essential Safety Measures.
  • Demonstrated written and oral interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in a Local Government environment.
  • Current Victorian driver’s licence. 
  • A current Working With Children Check, or willingness to apply prior to start
  • You have the permanent right to live and work in Australia
  • Police Check results that are suitable for this position (will be arranged by Surf Coast Shire Council). A complete international criminal history check is required if the person has worked or lived overseas for any period of time OR a complete national criminal history check is required if the person has only ever worked in Australia.
