Leading Hand Mowing & Open Spaces

Are you passionate about the outdoors and take pride in a well-maintained green space? We’re looking for a motivated and experienced Leading
Hand – Mowing & Open Spaces to help guide our dedicated Parks & Gardens crew in delivering first- class maintenance of the City’s parks, ovals,
streetscapes, and open spaces.

In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll be working closely with the Parks and Gardens Maintenance Supervisor to coordinate daily operations, support
and mentor field staff, and contribute to the planning and delivery of our annual maintenance programs.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Supervising and supporting a team of field staff
and contractors in the maintenance of parks and
gardens
• Mentoring team members in best-practice
horticulture and turf care techniques
• Coordinating work programs, spray schedules,
and inspections
• Getting hands-on in turf renovation, fertilising,
irrigation maintenance and more
• Ensuring safety, compliance, and a high
standard of work across all activities
• Contributing to a positive, proactive, and
collaborative team culture

We’re looking for someone who has:

• Trade qualifications or solid experience in
Horticulture, Arboriculture or Greenkeeping
• Strong leadership and team coordination skills
• Practical knowledge of sustainable parks
maintenance and irrigation systems
• A keen eye for quality, safety, and detail
• A current HR driver’s licence (or willingness to
obtain within 6 months)
• The drive to make Karratha’s public spaces the
best they can be!
