The Opportunity 

As a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic at Council, you will play a crucial role in implementing maintenance programs, servicing, and repairs for our diverse fleet assets. Your hands-on approach will ensure that all work is performed safely and in compliance with industry standards.
  
To be successful, you will demonstrate personal attributes that are consistent with Councils values of Integrity, People Focused, Excellence and Sustainability and you will possess the following:

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Recognised trade certificate as Diesel Mechanic together with relevant mechanical fitter experience;
  • Knowledge of standards and regulations associated with mechanical workshop plant and fleet;
  • Sound knowledge of plant, equipment, electronic diesel engines and hydraulics;
  • Ability to exercise good interpersonal and communications skills in order to provide trade guidance and assistance as part of a work team;
  • Sound working knowledge of Work Health and Safety as it relates to a workshop or infield work area;
  • Basic computer abilities as they relate to production process operations;
  • Forklift License (LF); and
  • Current Queensland ‘HR’ Class licence.

General Salary Information

$76,981 per annum plus superannuation.

Pre-employment Screening

Pre-employment screening includes Medicals, Functional Capacity Examination, Drug and Alcohol Testing, and Criminal History Checks to ensure capability to perform the inherent requirements of the role.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements 

Applicants must be able to safely and competently carry out strenuous labouring and manual handling activities.  The position will require the employee to carry out physical tasks which may include manual handling, repetitive bending, kneeling, twisting and/or squatting, lifting, working in confined spaces, and working at heights.
