Horticultural Tradesperson – Full-time

Council is seeking applications from motivated, suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill this important role within the Open Space & Recreation Department.

The primary purpose of the position is to lead a small team of staff to carry out work to ensure Council’s parks, gardens, sporting fields, trees and reserves are maintained to a high standard of appearance.

Qualifications & Experience

• The applicant should possess a Trade Certificate in Horticulture/Parks and Gardens or equivalent, with at least 12 months' relevant work experience.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the general public and fellow employees are essential, as well as excellent problem-solving and teamwork skills.
• The applicant must hold a current Class C driver licence.

Salary & Conditions

• The position is Grade 7 in Council’s salary system (from $1,116.90 to $1,300.40 per week) plus applicable allowances and 11.5% superannuation.
• Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award.
• The position is currently a nine-day fortnight (76 hours – Monday to Friday).
• Prior to commencement, the successful applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment functional assessment which includes an Alcohol and Other Drug screening and a hearing test.
• It is also a requirement, on commencement, to provide evidence of having received COVID-19 vaccinations.
