Position Overview

The Trainee IT Support Officer will play a key role in supporting the IT Department by assisting with application management, network maintenance, and hardware troubleshooting. This entry-level position offers hands-on experience in IT support while delivering exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders. As part of a collaborative team, you’ll help ensure smooth technology operations across various systems and locations, all while gaining valuable skills and knowledge to grow your career in the IT industry.

What You’ll Do

As our Trainee IT Support Officer, you’ll gain invaluable experience and provide crucial support to the IT Department, including:

  • Customer Service Excellence: Provide expert, timely advice to staff, stakeholders, and the community, ensuring tech issues are swiftly resolved.
  • Application Management: Assist with operating systems, network maintenance, and troubleshooting hardware to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Tech Support: Help install new systems, support remote sites, and ensure all technology is running at its best across the organization.
  • Clear Communication: Respond to inquiries, write reports, and contribute to policy development with clarity and professionalism.
  • Health and Safety: Follow safe work practices and ensure compliance with WHS standards.
  • Process Improvements: Contribute ideas to enhance systems and processes, ensuring we deliver the highest quality service.

Essential criteria

  • A positive attitude and a desire to learn and grow in the IT industry.
  • Strong communication skills – whether it’s explaining complex tech concepts or writing clear reports.
  • A team player who enjoys helping others and delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Basic experience with computers and mobile devices (e.g., tablets, smartphones).
  • A willingness to pursue a Certificate IV in Information Technology.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows networks and operating systems.
  • Understanding of network configuration, client/server environments, and hardware troubleshooting.
  • A valid Class C driver’s license.
