Lands Officer

Are you passionate about land management, Aboriginal Cultural Heritage, and working with Crown land? The City of Karratha is looking for a Lands Officer to join our Planning team! This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the City meets legislative requirements and represents community interests in land-related matters.

What You’ll Do:

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including State Government agencies.
• Assess and respond to Crown land proposals, Aboriginal Heritage referrals, and mining tenement applications.
• Coordinate referral processes and approvals to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
• Prepare reports, correspondence (including Ministerial), and documentation for key land projects.
• Work within a collaborative team to support the City’s planning and land management objectives.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience in Crown land processes, Aboriginal Cultural Heritage approvals, or mining tenements (preferred but not essential).
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and local government operations.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Tertiary qualification in land use planning or related field (desirable) OR relevant experience.
