The role

Key responsibilities undertaken by the Local Laws and School Crossings Officer include:

  • Actively patrol Council’s environs to ensure general compliance. This will include, but is not limited to vehicle parking, goods on footpaths, animal management, advertising signs and structures, pollution incidents, littering, abandoned vehicles and other articles
  • Provide technical advice to Council colleagues and the community with regard to the enforcement of Council regulations, standards and policies
  • Effectively maintain files and administrative and information recording systems in an up-to-date efficient manner to ensure ready access to received information
  • Coordinate and supervise the School Crossing Supervisors on a day-to-day basis ensuring rosters are prepared, recruitment and undertaking performance reviews

  • ability to provide excellent customer service
  • effective verbal communication and negotiation skills, with demonstrated capacity to resolve customer service issues effectively and collaboratively
