The Role
The Governance & Performance unit’s purpose is to ensure Council is making the right decisions, at the right time, with the right information. The unit leads a suite of governance and compliance functions, including integrity, legal, and risk and assurance services. It also includes organisation performance, service improvement, business planning and change management functions.
This newly formed team is central to ensuring the City maintains systems, policies and procedures to support good governance, strategic corporate planning and organisation performance.
In this varied role, you will report to the Director Corporate Performance and support staff and Council to act and make decisions with integrity, and oversee the Integrated Strategic Planning Framework to align strategy across the organisation and identify current and future resources required for service delivery.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have extensive leadership experience with expertise in governance and risk, and have knowledge of the Local Government Act and relevant legislation.
You will have strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop positive relationships within a political environment. You will have demonstrated knowledge and experience in change management and corporate planning, together with strong project management skills and a commitment to high performance.

Qualifications in law, governance, change management, strategic planning, or risk and assurance are required, as well as a satisfactory Police Records Check and employee Working with Children’s Check.
