About the position:
The Plant Operator undertakes operational activities associated with the provision of road
infrastructure services to the City of Greater Geraldton, working under direction to ensure all work is
carried out within agreed programs and budget constraints and in compliance with all relevant state
and federal regulations, City policies, procedures and relevant Australian standards.
This position works a 9 day fortnight with every second Friday as a non-working day.
Key accountabilities:
• Participate in hazard identification and controls through the development of specific JHA and
ensuring team accountability. Promote safe work practices and environment through leading
by example.
• Construct and maintain unsealed roads and shoulders within the City’s network.
• General operation of plant and hand tools, carry out maintenance and/or labour duties as
required.
• Operate plant and specialised road maintenance equipment in a competent and safe manner
including rollers, loaders, trucks, graders, bobcats, excavators and other machinery as
required.
• Ensure that regular routine daily maintenance is carried out and that relevant log books and
pre-start are completed.

Position requirements:
The successful applicant will hold an HC licence and have demonstrated experience in the safe use of
plant and equipment associated with road construction including rollers, loaders, graders, bobcats
and excavators.
Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required
of all positions at the City.
Remuneration and benefits:
A salary starting from $72,450 per annum or $36.66 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
