Byron Shire Council's Works department is currently seeking enthusiastic:

  • Capital Works Supervisors - currently two (2) vacancies available with additional opportunities to be considered for Council's merit list for future vacancies
  • Stormwater and General Maintenance Supervisors - currently one (1) vacancy available with additional opportunities to be considered for Council's merit list for future vacancies
  • Maintenance Supervisors - expressions of interest being sought for opportunities to be considered for Council's merit list for future vacancies
  • Multi-skilled Operators - currently three (3) vacancies available with additional opportunities to be considered for Council's merit list for future vacancies
  • Multi-skilled Labourers - currently two (2) permanent vacancies available and one (1) 2 years fixed term vacancy available with opportunities to be considered for Council's merit list for future vacancies.

These positions play a key role in delivering infrastructure services maintenance activities and capital works projects throughout the Shire.

Some competencies common to all of the positions include:

These opportunities offer:

  • permanent, full-time positions (38 hours per week / 9 day fortnight) OR
    a two (2) year fixed term, full-time position (38 hours per week / 9 day fortnight) for one Multi-skilled Labourer position OR

  • Salary and Conditions will be in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award with an appointment at a salary in the range of:
    • Supervisor roles - $1,310.30 to $1,518.18 per 38 hour week
      (dependent upon skills and experience) plus any applicable allowances
    • Multi-skilled Operator roles - $1,155.40 to $1,338.70 per 38 hour week
      (dependent upon skills and experience) plus any applicable allowances
    • Multi-skilled Labourer roles - $1,044.00 to $1,209.63 per 38 hour week
      (dependent upon skills and experience) plus any applicable allowances

These positions are based at Byron Depot, however Council can require you to work from other work sites as required for operational reasons.

  • Functional Health Assessment: If applicable, the functional health assessment evaluates your physical and functional capacity against the physical demands necessary to safely perform the job for which you have applied. Applicable roles are subject to drug and alcohol testing, please note these tests will potentially require the provision of a urine sample, and a positive test will preclude a candidate from employment with Council at that time.
  • Background Screening: Background checks verify the information you have provided in your application, and where applicable, also check for relevant criminal history. Checks may also include, for example, a confirmation of your employment history, qualifications/tickets and working with children clearance.
