Located in Southwest Queensland, the Paroo Shire Council covers an area of 47,623 square kilometres with Cunnamulla being the hub of the Shire incorporating four beautiful rural towns, Cunnamulla, Yowah, Eulo and Wyandra and a growing tourism industry. Its unique name Cunnamulla, means ‘long stretch of water’, as the town sits on the edge of the picturesque Warrego River, a popular spot for boating, water sports, hot springs and fishing.
The Council has a new state of the art Civic and Community Enterprise Centre as its regional office and a growing tourism industry which offers a wide choice of attractions and activities including the $12millon mineral-rich artesian Cunnamulla Hot Springs, Cunnamulla Fella and Historical Railway.
About the Position
If you are committed and keen to make a difference to our rural
Australian community and are willing to take on a wide range of
duties including lawn maintenance and gardening, manual handling
tasks, rubbish collection, bitumen patching, street sweeping, laying
pavers and the concreting maintenance of parks and gardens then
we need you!!
You will be required to operate small plant and equipment, in a safe
manner, to get the job done and undertake maintenance and
construction tasks as required, to ensure our open spaces are
continually enhanced for our community to enjoy.

About You
You will be eager to step into a role where your skills will be utilised to
assist our gardeners in a variety of horticultural maintenance and
improvement activities keeping our parks and gardens in a pristine
condition.
Your will provide a sound level of communication and customer service
with our teams and community stakeholders, and you will be able to
proactively participate in identifying, recommending, developing and
implementing measures through which allocated tasks and
responsibilities may be carried out more effectively and efficiently.
About Your Experience
You will have demonstrated experience in operating and maintaining a
wide range plant and equipment and be capable of carrying out
physical requirements of the position including manual labouring as
required.
It would be great if you had plant competencies and licenses for a
Backhoe Front End Loader, Skid Steer, Excavator, Roller, Grader, Forklift
or a ‘HR’ Class Drivers Licence however this is not essential, although
you will need a current ‘C’ Class Queensland Drivers Licence and a
Construction Safety Induction Card (White Card), as an essential
requirement for this position.
