About the Role
The Development & Planning Branch has the following opportunities available:
• 1 x Full-time Permanent Planning Officer / Senior Planning Officer
• 2 x Full-time Temporary (12-month) Planning Officer / Senior Planning Officer.
These roles have a key development facilitation focus to help shape the growing Cairns Region!
Primary objectives of the role include:
• The assessment of development applications and enquiries.
• Providing high-level specialist and technical advice to key stakeholders.
• Fostering a supportive and positive workplace culture and team environment.
• Identifying and delivering process improvement opportunities, to ensure the Development Assessment team remains adaptive, responsive and customer focused.

To be successful for this role you will require:
• Graduate or post graduate qualifications in Town Planning from a recognised university or other tertiary education institution, or equivalent.
• Demonstrated substantial planning and development experience in a Local Government or similar.
• Current “C” Class Drivers Licence to attend offsite meetings and inspections.
