The key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Integrating systems of quality, dam safety and compliance targets within Cairns Regional Council.
  • Provide oversight of the Referable Dam Safety Management System, promote an innovation to system information whilst ensuring compliance with Dam Safety Conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory reporting and incident response.
  • Develop and implement quality management procedures and continuous improvement strategies.
  • Provide technical support and advice across the Council.
  • Facilitate training and promote a culture of quality and safety.

Our Ideal Candidate will have:

Qualifications: Relevant qualifications and/or extensive experience in Quality Systems.

Skills:

o Strong understanding of quality management standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 31000, ISO 55000)

o Excellent communication and analytical skills, and proficiency in Microsoft tools.
o Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in quality and compliance systems including management

frameworks, ensuring corporate compliance and best practices.
o Strong analytical skills to analyse data, identify recurring themes and trends, and provide

recommendations for continuous improvement.
o Capable of implementing developmental strategies to enhance capability and capacity in Quality Management and Referable Dam Safety Programs for the future.

Attributes: ability to work independently and as part of a team, customer-focused, and adept at building relationships, Proven experience in liaising with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, handling compliance matters with tact and discretion.
