Rates Officer

The Role

An exciting opportunity exists within our Corporate Services directorate for a Rates Officer. Reporting to the Coordinator Rates, in this role, you will provide technical support services and advice on maintenance and processing of rates, water billing and customer enquiries.

Essential

C Class Drivers Licence

Knowledge of the Local Government Act and Regulations specifically in regard to rates and charges

Familiarity with Microsoft applications and other computerised systems

Customer Service skills including problem solving and conflict resolution and correspondence

Knowledge of property terminology, tenures and ability to read and interpret maps

Ability to be thorough and accurate with regard to recording and amending data

Desirable

Experience with Local Government Rating and knowledge of the processes

Knowledge of Council’s current policies and procedures in regards to Rating

Experience in handling complaints and disputes
