The Regulatory Compliance team ensure the compliance and enforcement under a range of legislation, regulation, Council’s Planning Scheme and Council policy. The team work hard to investigate compliance concerns whilst ensuring that the community receives an outstanding level of service. As a part of this team you will conduct a variety of investigations with a mix of both onsite inspections and computer-based research including report writing whilst applying critical thinking to resolve new and complex problems.

Primary Objective:

  • Provideeffective,efficientandprofessionalregulatorycompliancewhichadherestotheprocessesandtechnicalrequirements of the Planning Act 2016, Building Act 1975, Environmental Protection Act 1994, Local Government Act 2009, Local Laws and other relevant legislation.
  • Apply sound technical knowledge and experience when undertaking complaint investigations in accordance with legislative requirements relating to complex, sensitive and high-profile offences.
  • Provide expert advice to the Supervisor, Coordinator and Manager through sound technical knowledge and experience of relevant legislation.
  • Ensure corporate, operational, and strategic objectives are met through competent and professional fulfilment of assigned duties.
  • Ensure customers receive the highest level of service and professional advice during the compliance investigation process.

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Diploma in Local Government or related field or Certificate IV in Government (Investigations) or equivalent qualifications or extensive experience in an investigative and/or enforcement role within Local Government or other Government department.
  • Current “C” class driver’s licence to travel independently between various sites within the Council region.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding Acts and the relationship between each law and their application in the enforcement process.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to draft routine correspondence and reports.
