This comprehensive service includes the maintenance of buildings, workshops, fleet, and stores; civil infrastructure such as drainage, footpaths, and waste management; and the care of parks, landscapes, and open spaces. Specialized teams handle everything from arboriculture and turf management to pest control and security, while also responding to emergencies and maintaining contracts for features like reserve maintenance and cemetery services. About the Role:

We are looking for a hardworking and team-oriented individual to join our Reserve Maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for the effective and efficient upkeep of Council parks and landscapes, ensuring they meet high standards for the community to enjoy. Your duties will include grass cutting, turf maintenance, garden bed maintenance and mulching, weed control, track maintenance, and other general park upkeep tasks. The role requires operating various plant and equipment safely and effectively, while also adapting to seasonal demands. As a key team player, you will follow direction, work collaboratively, and maintain accurate records, all while upholding Council’s policies and procedures.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general parks and landscape maintenance, including grass cutting, weed eradication, tree pruning, tree planting, and litter removal.
  • Operate machinery and equipment such as ride-on mowers and tractors safely and efficiently.
  • Drive a medium truck or utility vehicle as required for maintenance duties.
  • Maintain all equipment in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition.
  • Assist in other departments or teams as necessary to support Council services.
  • Follow safe work practices and ensure tasks meet required service standards.
  • Set up temporary signage in accordance with Work Zone Traffic Management Standards.
  • Report defects in infrastructure observed during maintenance operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of work tasks, materials used, and equipment operation.
  • Support a positive and collaborative team environment while assisting in staff training and development.

 

To be successful within this role, you will have:

  • Current Driver’s License.
  • Certificate III in Horticulture (or equivalent).
  • Work Zone Traffic Management Certificate.
  • Plant Operation Competencies, including Front Deck Mower and Chainsaw Operation.
  • Experience operating park and landscape maintenance equipment.
  • Knowledge of parks and landscape maintenance techniques.
