About the role

Civil Designing supportive service for the implementation of the Annual Capital Works Programme, preparation of concept plans and costs estimates for grant funding and to ensure that design documentation complies with statutory regulation, stakeholder requirements, Council Policies and objectives. Project management the implementation of some critical projects.

Duties

Key responsibilities include:

1. Design Documentation

· Prepare design documentation through a process and system that is legally compliant, meeting community and stakeholder expectations that is functional and fit for purpose and as cost-effective as possible.

· Preparation of a complete set of project design documentation for procurement of works

2. Internal and External Stakeholders

· Liaise with the community, utility providers, consultants, Main Roads Western Australia or other government agencies to minimise design issues and find appropriate solutions;

· Assist construction staff and contractors in the execution of the final design.

· Respond to enquiries, requests and complaints from internal and external customers;

3. Project Management

Assist the Coordinator Engineering Design with implementation of project works as required, including arranging quotation, service relocations and survey work. Ensure activities comply with relevant legislative/statutory requirements and the Council’s policies and procedures (including environmental requirements).

4. Technical and Drawing Standard

· Implement, develop and improve the City’s Engineering Technical Standards;

· Manage, develop, and standardise the drawing format standards for the City’s.

5. Policies and Procedures

Adhere to all City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder policies and procedures, and ensure personal safety at work and that ofothers;

6. Other accountabilities

Other accountabilities and responsibilities as directed by the Manager Engineering/Director Engineering.

Who we are Looking for:

To be considered for this position, you will need:

1.Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering and/or Design or equivalent relevant experience.
2.Extensive experience (at least 5 years) and knowledge in engineering infrastructure design specifically roads, drainage, and cost estimating.
3.Strong verbal and written communication skills;
4.Demonstrated ability to use relevant industry software applications such as; AutoCAD, Civil 3D Microsoft programs including PowerPoint, and Excel in the production of all facets of project work.
5.Demonstrated effective time management and prioritisation skills with the ability to balance competing workloads and deliver within deadlines.
6.Proficiency in ensuring all design work complies with Council’s internal policies and other external regulatory requirements and industry guidelines.
7.Current satisfactory National Police Clearance;
8.Current WA “C” Class driver’s licence.
