About the Role

Port Phillip is committed to environmental sustainability and responding to the climate emergency.

Responsible for leading the monitoring, evaluation and reporting of Council’s sustainability and climate change commitments, including carbon accounting, you will be knowledge in data collection systems and processes. 

You will provide a high level of professional sustainability expertise and support, and work collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders to deliver Council’s objectives and to embed sustainability into the organisation’s strategies, capital projects, service delivery and culture, with a focus on climate resilient infrastructure and reducing carbon emissions.   

Reporting to the Principal Climate Adaption the successful applicant will be knowledgeable in climate change adaptation frameworks and climate change risk management and have experience in embedding sustainability and climate risk responses into strategy, projects, service delivery and culture.  

Duties:

  • Lead Council’s sustainability and climate change monitoring, evaluation and reporting program
  • Facilitate an organisational change approach to embed Council’s sustainability and climate change goals into all projects and reporting processes
  • Be a Project Manager (or project team member) to deliver multi-disciplinary sustainability and climate change projects
  • Identify key challenges and opportunities that support Council and the community to become resilient to climate change
  • Actively contribute to a positive team and organisational culture with a focus on customer service and value for the community

Skills and Experience 

  • Tertiary degree in environmental science, engineering, planning or similar
  • At least 5 years relevant experience in sustainability and climate change related discipline (climate change risk management, carbon accounting, project management)
