As the Senior Transport Engineer, you will be the key technical resource for provision of sound, timely advice and resolution of issues related to road safety and traffic management. A key element of your role will be to liaise with a wide range of peers and stakeholders across Council, State Government, and the community to achieve agreed outcomes.

Our evolving Transport Planning team located in a world heritage area will provide you with an opportunity to get involved in a wide range of projects, from area-wide master planning and traffic studies to implementation of traffic treatments or controls; and a chance to provide expert advice and be involved in development of policies and strategies that have immediate and long-term impacts for our city.

We are seeking candidates that take pride in their work, have a positive attitude, are punctual, reliable, hardworking, and able to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment. The candidate will bring the following to the role:

•    Degree in relevant discipline or extensive relevant experience in engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ experience
•    Demonstrated ability to resolve complex engineering/transport related problems, negotiate viable options with stakeholders and implement preferred solutions 
•    Proven ability to prepare technical concise reports, correspondence, presentations on various operational engineering issues
•    Demonstrated ability to consult with effectively and fairly with internal and external customers which may involve complexity
•    Strong interpersonal & communication skills (written & oral) together with proven ability for negotiation and conflict resolution. 
•    Proven ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and as a valuable member of the team
•    Demonstrated ability to complete ongoing complex planning to ensure tasks are effectively coordinated.

Remuneration: base salary commencing at $111,044 gross per annum
  + 11.5% superannuation 
  + performance payment 1% - 3.5% annual salary (if eligible) 
  + annual award increase
