Animal Management Specialist - Permanent Full Time

  • Salary: $102,340 - $108,555 per annum
  • Plus up to 14.5% superannuation (conditions apply)

An exciting opportunity is available for an Animal Management Specialist to join the City of Joondalup Community Safety team.

The City is seeking an experienced Animal Management Specialist to join the Community Safety team. Core responsibilities of this position include development and delivery of contemporary animal management strategies, and development and implementation of a community education program to assist City of Joondalup pet owners. Additionally, the role will provide expert advice to Field Services staff in handling dogs in the community who may be wandering and/or aggressive.

The successful applicant will need to have extensive and demonstrated experience in animal management, experience in coaching and educating pet owners to be responsible, and extensive experience in assessing and/or managing dangerous dogs.

  • Substantial experience in the provision of animal training programs to individuals or groups
  • Substantial experience in assessing and managing behaviour of animals, including contemporary behaviour modification techniques
  • Experience in developing project plans, including scoping, establishment of deliverables and objectives, budget, schedule, communication plan and risk management
  • Superior communication skills with the ability to collaborate with a range of stakeholders
  • Sound knowledge of animal behaviour, control, identification, management, and relevant legislation within a Local Government context
