The Opportunity

Are you passionate about horticulture and ready to take your career to the next level? We are seeking a Turf Team Leader to join our dynamic Facilities and Open Spaces unit!

As the Turf Team Leader, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining sports fields and open spaces, ensuring our turf management operations meet the highest industry standards. You’ll lead a dedicated team, oversee essential maintenance tasks, and apply your horticultural expertise to keep our community’s green spaces thriving.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and guide a team of Groundspersons in turf management, mowing, herbicide spraying, and irrigation maintenance.
  • Conduct routine equipment checks and ensure all vehicles and machinery are operated safely and efficiently.
  • Implement innovative strategies for effective team operations and resource management.
  • Maintain accurate work records and ensure adherence to Council’s OH&S policies

What You Bring

  • A Diploma in Turf Management or equivalent experience in Amenity Horticulture.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience in planning and organizing work programs.
  • Strong knowledge of turf management principles, including irrigation systems and pest control.
  • A proactive attitude towards training and developing team members.

Qualifications:

  • Current Medium Rigid Driver’s License.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Chemcert, Worksite Traffic Control) preferred.
