What is the Summer Student Program?
From December to February, you’ll work alongside a dedicated team of professionals, contributing to meaningful projects while gaining invaluable experience. This is your chance to develop professionally and make a difference in your community. We are looking for students studying in the following (or related) fields:
- Town Planning / Planning
- Law / Legal Studies
- Environmental Health / Public Health / Health Science
- Architecture
- Sustainability
What We Are Looking For:
- A university student pursuing a qualification in one of the above fields
- Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to take on new challenges
- A strong team player who thrives in collaborative settings
- Commitment to developing your technical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Available Summer Student Positions:
- Student Architect – Sustainability and City Architecture: Carry out specified design, sustainability or planning related research and provide advice and support for problem solving to the branch. This role will allow you to gain professional experience and competency in the field of strategic planning, architecture, urban design and sustainability as well as analytically consider information and actively work to solve strategic questions.
- Student Planning Officer – Development Assessment: Assist in the evaluation and processing of development applications, focusing on compliance with planning legislation, local planning schemes and relevant policies. The role will perform research on planning policies to support planning assessments and decision making.
- Student Environmental Health Officer – Property and Environmental Health: This role will assist the team in performing food safety inspections and preparing inspection reports along with supporting the team in conducting environmental health audits and risk assessments. You will have the opportunity to conduct research and provide advice on environmental health matters.
- Student Compliance and Appeals Advisor – Local Laws, Compliance and Appeals: Assist with processing appeals, reviewing compliance cases and supporting regulatory compliance. The role will assist in preparation of legal documents and reports for use in appeal hearings and decision-making processes.
