Salisbury’s Home and Community Services (SHCS) is dedicated to supporting older individuals to live independently in their homes, enhancing social participation, and improving access to the community. The City of Salisbury is a local government entity and encompasses an area of 158km2. We are a customer focused organisation, providing essential services to residents and visitors, in a dynamic and flexible working environment.

 

The Social Participation and Diversity Team sits within the Community Diversity and Inclusion Division and is responsible for the City of Salisbury's social support group and meals Community Home Support Programme services. 

 

About the role:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Volunteer Program Coordinator to oversee and enhance our volunteer program across all SHCS service teams. In this role, you will ensure volunteers have meaningful, rewarding experiences while aligning the program with SHCS’s goals and values. This position plays a vital role in fostering positive relationships and delivering high-quality services that meet community needs.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver outstanding customer service in alignment with the City of Salisbury Community Experience Charter.
  • Recruit, induct, and support volunteers for the Social Participation and Diversity, Home Assist, and Disability teams.
  • Ensure compliance with City of Salisbury Volunteer Services engagement standards.
  • Develop and monitor effective volunteer supervision practices, training programs, and issue resolution processes.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive environment for volunteers, ensuring they feel valued and engaged.
  • Assist service officers and program coordinators with volunteer rostering and scheduling as needed.
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records and compile statistical information.
  • Ensure programs align with the Commonwealth Home Support Programme, Aged Care Quality Standards and NDIS Standards.
  • Participate in training, planning, appraisals, and team activities to drive continuous improvement and achieve meaningful outcomes.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

 

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience in managing community service volunteers or a similar role.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, particularly in engaging with older adults, individuals with disabilities, and carers.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, supervise, and support volunteers effectively.
  • Excellent organisational skills, including time management and task prioritisation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and record management systems, with the ability to learn and utilise new applications.
  • Knowledge of WHS requirements and best practices for volunteer service delivery.
  • Adaptability to change and active participation in change management processes.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Experience in the aged care or disability sectors.
  • Familiarity with the Commonwealth Home Support Programme and Aged Care Quality Standards.
