About the opportunity

We are seeking a motivated Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) Compliance Officer to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. 

As a member of the Asset Design Waterway Team you will: 

  • Lead activities to support the implementation of Council's Six Streams Integrated Water Strategy to help Blacktown transition to a water sensitive City that values and improves its waterways for the benefit of the community and the environment
  • Assist in the development and delivery of Council's industry leading WSUD Compliance Program to ensure effective management of water sensitive urban design systems on private properties
  • Provide technical expertise and advice in the areas of business administration, record keeping, procurement, invoicing and payments
  • Work with a dynamic team leading water management in the industry.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business Administration, Public Management, Records Management and/or related field
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving skills and critical thinking, including the ability to determine and adapt management approaches for a broad range of situations
  • Demonstrated experience working with internal and external stakeholders inclusive of contractors and the community
  • Understanding of Council policies and statutory responsibilities relating to the development approvals for private WSUD systems
  • Demonstrated experience in managing record keeping systems
  • Demonstrated ability to implement local government procurement, invoicing and payment systems
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills and an ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of people
  • Computer literacy in basic Microsoft Office applications with good knowledge of spreadsheet software packages and the ability to quickly learn corporate applications
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Current class ‘C’ drivers licence.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in local government
  • Demonstrated experience in use of CM9 and Technology One
  • Demonstrated knowledge in catchment and waterway management issues inclusive of WSUD.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,560.32 per week
  • 35-hour working week
  • Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
