About the Opportunity

This is an entry level position with the Water Services team, the successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining the council’s water, sewer, and stored stormwater infrastructure under supervision. This position in an essential service that requires compliance with the relevant legislation, Murray River Council Policies and Procedures in which training will be provided as part of the role.

Duties include (but not limited to):

  • Operate and maintain water and sewer plant, reservoirs, and pumping systems.
  • Monitor electronic control systems and respond to faults.
  • Undertake and record water quality testing in accordance with Australian Standards.
  • Undertake repairs and maintenance on mains and other infrastructure.
  • Provide professional customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Undertake water smart meter systems and maintenance.
  • Investigate, report, and resolve water meter matters.
  • Ensure plant is maintained in good working order, with breakdowns minimised.

What you need to be successful:

Mandatory

  • Commitment to undertaking continuing professional development.
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • National Police Check
  • Pre-employment Medical
  • Current First Aid Certificate

Desirable

  • Confined Space Ticket
  • Experience in backflow prevention
  • Experience in Direct Digital Control systems
  • Certificate III Sewerage Treatment
  • Medium Rigid Truck Licence
