The Weeds Compliance Officer will work as part of a dedicated team to improve the environmental condition of the City of Blue Mountains by participating in strategic weed control planning and conducting regulatory inspections of private land and land managed by other government agencies to enforce the provisions of the NSW Biosecurity Act 2015. Provide education and advice to land holders on effective and sustainable weed management practices. Assist in the development and implementation of operational programs, including weed control on Council owned land, for the management of priority and environmental weeds in accordance with Council policies and strategies.
The successful candidate will have a TAFE Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management Agriculture, Bush Regeneration or Horticulture discipline, current Chemcert or SmartTrain chemical user accreditation AQF 3 or 4 and a current Class C drivers licence. Knowledge of the identification and control of priority and environmental weeds of the Blue Mountains region. The Weeds Compliance Officer must have experience in the use of and maintenance of herbicide application equipment, competent computing skills, record keeping, sound communication and negotiation skills and a commitment to excellent customer service standards.
Remuneration: base salary commencing at $74,200 gross per annum
+ adverse working conditions of $1,035 gross per annum
+ 11.5% superannuation
+ performance payment 1% - 3.5% annual salary
+ annual award increase
