Council is seeking applications from enthusiastic motivated individuals for the following position.

WORKS ENGINEER (Permanent)

The purpose of the Works Engineer is to provide technical support to Works Managers to manage civil projects efficiently, effectively and safely, together with managing the project budgets. Assist with Project design and drafting for the Works Department. Design and develop Traffic Management and Traffic guidance schemes

Pathway:  In the instance where Council cannot identify a suitable candidate for the Works Engineer position, Council may consider offering an applicant a training pathway. The training pathway commencement position may include a Works Engineer Trainee or an Assistant Works Engineer depending on the skills and qualifications of the applicant. Qualifications: Degree in Civil Engineering acceptable to the Institution of Engineers Australia, or extensive Local Government experience in civil engineering works, road construction or maintenance operations, planning & control. Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering with demonstrated extensive Local Government experience in civil engineering work is acceptable.

Skills & Knowledge: Demonstrated experience in Transport for NSW Quality Assurance systems, Technical and Environmental Procedures and other documentation associated with civil maintenance, rehabilitation and construction projects and demonstrated knowledge of design guidelines such as Australian Standards, Austroads, Transport for NSW Technical Directions and other relevant guidelines.

Hours of work: 35 hours per week. 

Salary and conditions for Works Engineer: Commencement annual salary range from $102,850.75 to $113,131.20 (Grade 18) Plus superannuation and civil liability insurance. Salary for the Works Engineer Trainee starting at $803.30 per week. Salary range for the Assistant Works Engineer $1,614.10 per week.
